About

Kevin Cleary was perhaps best known as “Kevin The Afternoon Guy,” the radio deejay who could be heard on Hartford radio on stations such as WMRQ and WCCC. But at heart, Kevin was a musician. When he wasn’t on the radio, you could always find him in the corner of some Irish bar downtown playing guitar and singing songs, or hosting an open mic and supporting original musicians in the local scene. Through his love of music, he brought together a diverse crowd of musicians and music lovers who all felt privileged to call him a friend.

Once a year, we all get together and spend the afternoon making music together in Kevin’s name to raise money for the Kevin Clearly Scholarship. The Connecticut School of Broadcasting taught Kevin how to be a disc jockey and set him on his career path, and even during his life, Kevin was a supporter of the school and its mission. The Scholarship aims to assist students looking to pursue a career in broadcasting in the hopes that they too will pursue their passion and carry on Kevin’s legacy.
